Lindsay Parsons

We are sad to hear the news that former Gillingham assistant manager Lindsay Parsons has passed away at the age of 73, following a short illness.

Lindsay did a fantastic job at Gillingham between 1995 and 1999. Along with Tony Pulis, they were in charge for one of the most memorable periods in Gillingham history. Two trips to Wembley, some of the best players we have seen at Gillingham and numerous FA Cup giant killings.

When asked about his time at Gillingham Lindsay said: “I remember our first training session at Gillingham and I told Tony the standard was lower than Cheltenham in the Southern League!

“But we turned it around and won promotion to what is now League One and then we were 2-0 up in the play-off final against Manchester City at Wembley, but we don’t talk about that!”

Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of Lindsay at this sad time.
