Alan Liptrott: RIP

Updated: Jul 12

We are deeply sorry to hear the sad news that Alan Liptrott sadly passed away on Wednesday morning. Our thoughts and love are with Alan’s wife Gloria, his son Gary and his daughter Zoe.

Alan, who is former chairman of the Gills Supporters’ Club, supported the Gills since 1965.

Many fans will remember the Big Al Express train travel to away games, his efforts and non stop enthusiasm in running the Gillingham FC away travel and his very active involvement in keeping the Gills in business when they went into receivership in 1995. Without Alan we really may not have had a club to support today.

He spent much of his life in Walderslade before moving to Sandgate to enjoy a well earned retirement.

Alan was one of the best and always will be. You couldn’t wish to meet a nicer person.

We all have excellent memories with Alan and he will be sadly missed by us all.

If anyone would like to make a donation in memory of Alan, his family are asking for donations to the Pilgrims Hospice and Cancer Research at Details of Alan's final journey can also be viewed on this website. All donations will be gratefully appreciated.

RIP Alan.
