Charity Match: Head In The Game

Medway United, The ME7 Podcast and a selection of Gillingham FC Legends are coming together to play a charity football match on Saturday 25th May 2024. The match will take place at the Star Meadow Complex, Gillingham, to raise awareness and much needed funds for the charity Head in the Game, which brings football and mental health together. Kick off is 3.00pm.


One in eight men report experiencing symptoms of mens mental health problems.

Suicide is the biggest killer of people under the age of 35 and the biggest killer of men under the age of 50.



Medway United have been working hard within the last few years to raise awareness of mental health through their mental health champion Ryan Abrahall.


The ME7 Podcast has recently also been making regular shows related to mens mental health. These help to spread the word within the podcasts and dedicated monthly mental health shows.


Medway United, The ME7 Podcast, Gills social media groups and a selection of Gills legends, are coming together to play a charity football match on Saturday 25th May 2024. This will take place at the Star Meadow Complex, Gillingham, with kick off at 3.00pm. This will raise awareness and much needed funds for the Head in the game charity.


Head In The Game is a UK registered charity that offers the invaluable opportunity for people in the local community to unite and indulge in the sport they love. These weekly sessions, provided free of charge, cater to anyone between the ages of 18-55, regardless of their footballing ability.



Under the guidance of experienced football and talking therapy coaches, each session is meticulously designed to prioritise mental health and overall wellbeing. By creating a secure and trusted environment, these sessions serve as an outlet for participants to address their mental health concerns.
