Like all Gills fans, the GISC are looking forward to welcoming Brad Galinson, Shannon and
their family to Priestfield. This truly is a new era for Gillingham FC, and we are sure 2023 will be a great year to be a Gills fan. What a start to the festive season!
We ask that all fans, past and present, old and new, young and not so young, come together and make Priestfield back into the fortress we know it can be. Those fans that were staying away from Priestfield, please consider returning and giving the team your much needed support. If we unite as one, we can achieve the impossible.
As we now look forward to better times, we also remember Paul Scally coming to the club, as Owner and Chairman, in 1995. We had immediate success, with Tony Pulis appointed as manager, signing Leo Fortune-West, who the GISC helped bring to the club, achieving promotion at the first attempt whilst breaking club records on the way. We have since gone onto visit the Old and New Wembley Stadiums, played in the FA Cup quarter final against Chelsea, saw some of the biggest victories in the club’s history and played in the Championship. There have also been some memorable cup giant killings, as well as some not so memorable with the Gills being on the wrong end of the result.
There’s been a total of 3 Wembley visits, 4 promotions, 4 relegations and we have defeated 8 Premier League teams in cup competitions. Of course, we also won the League Two Championship.
Priestfield Stadium has also been transformed since 1995. Although not everyone always saw eye to eye with Paul Scally, the club simply does not run itself, especially during 2020 / 2021 with so many people losing loved ones during this period. We thank Paul Scally for everything he has done for Gillingham FC. It was clear the club needed investment and we are delighted Brad Galinson, with wife Shannon, have chosen to invest in our club and become part of our Gillingham Football Family. Thanks also go to co-chairman Paul Fisher. A Gills fan and someone who has the best interests of the club at heart. Since Pauls arrival at the start of the season, there has been a breath of fresh air blowing through the club which has lifted spirits during this difficult period. It seems obvious he has played a key part in securing the investment from Brad and we are pleased to see him remain at Priestfield.
The GISC look forward to help and work with the club to benefit both supporters and the team. We look forward to a highly successful 2023.
The only way is up! Let’s come together and move the Gills up the table. For those planning to return to Priestfield, welcome home.
Up the Gills and have a great Christmas. Neil Klee, GISC chairman, and the GISC Committee.
