The Gillingham FC Supporters' Club Player of the Year award has been presented yearly since the 1979-1980 season. The very first winner was Steve Bruce, who went onto win the award for a second time in 1981/1982.
Players such as Mark Weatherley, Terry Cochrane, Tony Cascarino, Andy Hessenthaler, Robert Taylor and more recently, Connor Ogilvie appear on the trophy.
The player to be awarded the GFCSC Player of the Year trophy the most is midfielder Paul Smith. Paul won the award four times, collecting the trophy in 1997-99, 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2004-05.
The original GFCSC Player of the Year cup is still presented to the players. The players now also receive a laser engraved crystal trophy.
The GFCSC Supporter of the Year has been presented since the 1988-89 season, with the Away Player of the Year and Mark Agate Young Player of the Year presented from 2012-13.
