RIP Richard Green - 1967-2026

We are saddened by the news that former Gills captain Richard Green has sadly passed away aged 58.

Green joined the Gills from Swindon Town in March 1992. He went on to make more than 250 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals, and was voted Player of the Year in consecutive seasons, 1992/93 and 1993/94.

An important figure during some difficult years at Priestfield, Green also played his part in the memorable 1995/96 promotion campaign under Tony Pulis, helping to usher in a more successful era for the club.

The club have announced that they will pay tribute to Richard prior to their next home game - the first round FA Cup tie against Barrow on 7 November.

Sincere condolences to Richard's family, friends and former teammates.

Rest In Peace Richard.
