It is with great sadness that we have learnt that former Gillingham F.C owner and Chairman, Tony Smith, has passed away at the age of 79. Tony was always a Gills fan and was President of the Gills Independent Supporters Club.
Tony became chairman of Gillingham FC in 1995, when the club was on the brink of collapse.
He kept the club alive, using his own funds, until the receivers were eventually called in and Tony agreed to sell the club to Paul Scally.
Our thoughts are with Val and the entire Smith family at this sad time. RIP Tony.
