Gillingham will open their League Two campaign on 15th August welcoming Walsall to Priestfield. The Saddlers, who faded to finish 13th last season after another promising start, were also the first league visitors to ME7 last year — a game The Gills won 1–0 thanks to a 58th‑minute strike from Bradley Dack. The return fixture at Easter ended 2–2 at the Bescot Stadium.

The first away trip of the new season sends Gillingham to Fleetwood where they were beaten 2–1 last December.
Back at Priestfield, The Gills then host relegated Northampton, before, in the space of five days, an early‑September double on the road that looks particularly testing: Chesterfield - widely tipped for a promotion push – and Rochdale - newly promoted and looking to carry momentum into the new campaign.
September also brings the visit of Steve Evans’ Bristol Rovers - another side expected to challenge at the top end of the table - as well as a trip to York, last season’s National League champions. It’s a month that should offer a clear, early barometer of Gillingham’s ambitions to improve on recent seasons and mount a possible promotion challenge.
The festive period brings a Boxing Day visit to Crawley followed by two home fixtures: Barnet - early favourites for the League title - on 29th December and Exeter on New Year’s Day - a long haul for the travelling Grecians after their relegation last season.
Should Gillingham be in contention for automatic promotion or the play‑offs, the spring run‑in looks demanding. April includes away days at Barnet and Bristol Rovers, plus home matches against Rotherham and York. The final home game is against Salford in early May before the season wraps up with a tasty finale at Swindon.
Cup competitions
The season begins on the weekend of 7th to 9th August with the first round of the EFL Carabao Cup, where Gillingham have been drawn at home to League One Luton.
In the EFL Vertu Trophy, Gillingham are in Southern Group G, alongside Brighton Under‑21s, Cambridge and Northampton with fixtures starting in early September.
